What Are Metalworking Fluids?
Metalworking fluids are the oils and other liquids used to cool and/or lubricate metals when they're being machined, ground or milled. MWFs are typically mixtures of oils, emulsifiers, anti-weld agents, corrosion inhibitors, extreme pressure additives, buffers (alkaline reserve), biocides, and other additives.

What Are The Benefits Of Metalworking Fluids?
Reduce Heat & Friction
At their core, metalworking fluids greatly reduce heat and friction between the tool and metal piece being worked on, preventing potential for smoke, overuse of expensive industrial machinery and burnt raw materials.
Anti Welding Properties
Metalworking fluids prevent metal build-up on the machinery, which will limit their usability and reduce their product life cycle.
Rust & Corrosion Protection
Instead of letting your cutting and grinding operations get grimy or run-down, metalworking fluids have numerous properties to ensure they stay new for long as possible. For instance, metalworking fluids have built-in inhibitors to prevent rust and corrosion, plus they have low viscosity levels that allow metal chips and dirt to settle out of the fluids and be flushed away from the work area.
Long-Lasting & Resistant To Rancidity
Because metalworking fluids never go rancid and are nonperishable, the product has an indefinite shelf-life. That's why we recommend buying MWF in bulk, so you get the cost savings from purchasing higher quantities and have enough fluid on hand to fulfill jobs at will.
Houghton HOCUT 795B coolant in action, cutting aluminum on a CNC machine
HOCUT 795B is also commonly used when cutting high or low carbon steels, alloy steels such as 4130 and 4140, cast iron, nodular iron, gray iron, or 300 and 400 series stainless steel.
