Truegard Multi-purpose grease is a smooth lithium based grease suitable for a wide range of uses including automotive chassis lubrication. Truegard Multi-purpose grease provides lubrication in the presence of water. It exhibits mechanical and oxidation stability insuring long grease life. Displays good resistance against rust and corrosion and offers superior resistance to water washout. Truegard Multi-Purpose grease maintains good mobility even in cold weather, and is ideal for centralized grease systems.

Truegard Multi-purpose grease is suitable for bearing temperatures up to 121°C (250°F) and down to –12.2°C (10°F). The water washout test shows it to be applicable where water contamination is encountered. Truegard MultiPurpose Grease provides excellent performance as an automotive chassis lubricant, electric motor bearing lubricant, and general purpose bearing lubrication.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • NLGI Grade 2 is a medium-consistency grease that is firm enough to stay in place during operation yet soft enough to be pumped through dispensing lines. It is the most widely used grade and is appropriate for general-purpose bearings, automotive chassis components, and electric motor bearings operating under normal to moderate loads and speeds.

  • The dropping point is the temperature at which a grease liquefies and loses its structure. A minimum dropping point of 365°F provides a substantial safety margin above the rated maximum service temperature of 250°F (121°C), meaning the grease retains its consistency and protective film even during temporary temperature spikes in service.

  • A base oil viscosity of 140 cSt at 40°C indicates a medium-to-heavy lubricating film, which is well suited for moderately loaded bearings and chassis fittings that operate at low to moderate speeds. Applications requiring higher-speed, lightly loaded bearings may benefit from a lower-viscosity base oil grease, while this viscosity level is ideal for the chassis and general bearing uses listed for this product.

  • This grease has been tested for water washout resistance and is formulated to provide lubrication even in the presence of water. It offers superior resistance to water washout along with rust and corrosion protection, making it appropriate for applications such as chassis lubrication or outdoor equipment where moisture or water spray is a regular concern.

  • Yes, the product is specifically described as ideal for centralized grease systems. Its smooth, buttery NLGI 2 texture supports pumpability through feed lines and distribution blocks, reducing the risk of blockages in automated dispensing setups.

  • This grease maintains good mobility down to -12.2°C (10°F), making it suitable for cold-climate operation or winter use. If your application regularly experiences temperatures below 10°F, a lower-NLGI or synthetic-based grease with a lower pour-point base oil may be more appropriate.
