TRUEGARD #927 Universal Cutting Oil - No Sulfur/Chlorine

TRUEGARD #927 is a revolutionary cutting oil for applications of the greatest severity or requiring the finest finishes. This powerful product can be used on all ferrous and nonferrous alloys. Applications include drilling, milling, tapping, threading, and broaching.

TRUEGARD #927 utilizes leading edge additive chemistry to provide lubricity far superior to conventional sulfur and chlorine based fluids. To meet the requirements of different applications, this product is available in several viscosity grades as shown below.

TRUEGARD #927 offers the following advantages:

Eliminates Staining & Corrosion Problems Simplifies Cleaning Of Finished Parts

Essentially Odorless Even At Elevated Temperatures

TRUEGARD #927 is a very clean product to use. It is completely non-staining to all metals, even after sustained usage at elevated temperatures. In addition, it will provide better in-process rust protection than other cutting oils.

TRUEGARD #927 is readily removed from machined parts with mild alkaline cleaners. This lubricant will readily float on water, thereby allowing for easy removal by way of skimmers. This is in contrast to many heavy duty cutting oils which are very difficult to remove and which sink to the bottom of the wash tank.

TRUEGARD #927 exhibits very little odor, even at elevated temperatures. This contrasts markedly from zinc/chlorine/sulfur based cutting oils which present severe odor challenges at the high operating temperatures typically encountered in severe metalworking applications.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • TRUEGARD #927 is designed for the most severe metalworking applications and can be used on all ferrous and nonferrous alloys. Supported operations include drilling, milling, tapping, threading, and broaching, making it a true universal cutting oil for a broad range of shop requirements.

  • The three grades differ in viscosity at 100°F - 140 SUS (#927), 200 SUS (#927-20), and 350 SUS (#927-35). Lighter grades provide better penetration and cooling for high-speed or fine-finish operations, while heavier grades deliver greater film strength and lubricity for slower, more severe cuts where tool pressure is high. Select the grade that matches the severity and speed of your specific application.

  • TRUEGARD #927 uses advanced additive chemistry specifically formulated to deliver lubricity that surpasses conventional sulfur- and chlorine-based fluids, without those additives. This means no staining on ferrous or nonferrous metals, no severe odor at elevated operating temperatures, and no corrosion problems associated with reactive extreme-pressure chemistries.

  • TRUEGARD #927 is readily removed using mild alkaline cleaners. Because the oil floats on water rather than sinking, it can also be easily skimmed from wash tanks - a significant advantage over many heavy-duty cutting oils that sink and are difficult to separate from wash water.

  • No - TRUEGARD #927 is completely non-staining to all metals, including nonferrous alloys, even after sustained use at elevated temperatures. It also provides better in-process rust protection than conventional cutting oils, helping protect ferrous parts between machining stages.

  • All three #927 viscosity grades share a flash point of 380°F, which indicates a relatively low fire risk under normal machining and storage conditions compared to lighter petroleum products. The product should still be stored away from open flames and ignition sources, but the high flash point provides a meaningful safety margin in typical shop environments.
