TRUEGARD #927 Universal Cutting Oil - No Sulfur/Chlorine

TRUEGARD #927 is a revolutionary cutting oil for applications of the greatest severity or requiring the finest finishes. This powerful product can be used on all ferrous and nonferrous alloys. Applications include drilling, milling, tapping, threading, and broaching.

TRUEGARD #927 utilizes leading edge additive chemistry to provide lubricity far superior to conventional sulfur and chlorine based fluids. To meet the requirements of different applications, this product is available in several viscosity grades as shown below.

TRUEGARD #927 offers the following advantages:

Eliminates Staining & Corrosion Problems Simplifies Cleaning Of Finished Parts

Essentially Odorless Even At Elevated Temperatures

TRUEGARD #927 is a very clean product to use. It is completely non-staining to all metals, even after sustained usage at elevated temperatures. In addition, it will provide better in-process rust protection than other cutting oils.

TRUEGARD #927 is readily removed from machined parts with mild alkaline cleaners. This lubricant will readily float on water, thereby allowing for easy removal by way of skimmers. This is in contrast to many heavy duty cutting oils which are very difficult to remove and which sink to the bottom of the wash tank.

TRUEGARD #927 exhibits very little odor, even at elevated temperatures. This contrasts markedly from zinc/chlorine/sulfur based cutting oils which present severe odor challenges at the high operating temperatures typically encountered in severe metalworking applications.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • The three grades differ in viscosity: #927 is 140 SUS, #927-20 is 200 SUS, and #927-35 is 350 SUS, all measured at 100°F. Lighter grades (lower SUS) flow more freely and are typically better suited to high-speed or light-duty operations, while heavier grades provide a thicker film and greater lubricity for slower, more severe operations such as heavy tapping or broaching on tough alloys.

  • Sulfur and chlorine-based cutting oils can stain or corrode nonferrous metals such as copper, brass, and aluminum, and they produce strong odors at the high temperatures common in severe machining. Because TRUEGARD #927 uses additive chemistry that eliminates these compounds, it is safe on all ferrous and nonferrous alloys without staining risk and remains essentially odorless even at elevated operating temperatures.

  • Yes. The product is explicitly formulated for use on all ferrous and nonferrous alloys, and its sulfur/chlorine-free chemistry means it will not stain or corrode sensitive nonferrous metals even after sustained use at elevated temperatures.

  • The oil is readily removed using mild alkaline cleaners. It is also designed to float on water rather than sink, which allows it to be easily skimmed from wash tanks - a practical advantage over many heavy-duty cutting oils that sink to the bottom and are difficult to recover.

  • All three grades share a flash point of 380°F. This relatively high flash point means the oil is less likely to ignite under normal machining conditions, but it should still be stored away from open flames or heat sources and used in well-ventilated areas consistent with standard industrial lubricant handling practices.

  • Yes. The product provides better in-process rust protection than conventional cutting oils, helping to protect machined parts from oxidation between operations - a useful benefit in environments where parts may sit for a period before cleaning or further processing.
