TRUEGARD MACHINE CLEANER is a proprietary blend of detergents, surfactants, bio-
cides, and inhibitors designed to thoroughly clean and disinfect fluid reservoirs and coolant lines in order to provide a suitable environment for metalworking coolants.  A clean reservoir is essential optimize coolant life and maintain machining performance.

TRUEGARD MACHINE CLEANER should be premixed into fresh water at the rate of 1 part cleaner to 20 parts water.   After emptying the machine, charge the reservoir with this solution  and allow to recirculate at low pump speed for one hour to insure adequate cleaning of the entire machine. Manual cleaning of inaccessible areas may be necessary to dissolve and suspend all the dirt, grease, oil, and bacteria.  After draining the machine, repeat applications may be necessary to properly clean severely fouled machines.   A final clean water rinse is strongly recommended to remove any residual dirt and cleaner solution.  The machine is now ready to operate at peak efficiency.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • It is formulated specifically for metalworking machines that use coolant systems -- targeting the fluid reservoirs and coolant lines where cutting fluids, tramp oils, dirt, and bacteria accumulate over time. It is not a general-purpose industrial cleaner, but rather a pre-charge cleaner used before introducing fresh metalworking coolant.

  • Residual tramp oil, bacteria, dirt, and grease left in a dirty reservoir will contaminate new coolant immediately upon addition, shortening its effective life and degrading machining performance. A clean environment allows the fresh coolant to perform at peak efficiency from the start.

  • The product should be mixed at 1 part cleaner to 20 parts fresh water. A 55-gallon drum will therefore yield up to 1,155 gallons of ready-to-use cleaning solution, making it highly economical for cleaning large or multiple machines.

  • After emptying the machine, fill the reservoir with the 1:20 diluted solution and recirculate it at low pump speed for one hour to clean the entire system. Manually clean any inaccessible areas that the recirculating solution cannot reach, drain the machine, and finish with a final clean water rinse to remove all residual dirt and cleaner before charging with fresh coolant.

  • For severely fouled machines, the product data states that repeat applications may be necessary to properly dissolve and suspend all accumulated dirt, grease, oil, and bacteria. A final clean water rinse is strongly recommended after all cleaning cycles are complete.

  • A pH of 8.8 is mildly alkaline, which is effective at breaking down oils and biological contamination while being less aggressive than strongly caustic cleaners. Users working with machines that have sensitive seals, aluminum components, or painted surfaces should verify material compatibility before use, as even mild alkalinity can affect certain materials with prolonged exposure.
