Truegard Multi-purpose grease is a smooth lithium based grease suitable for a wide range of uses including automotive chassis lubrication. Truegard Multi-purpose grease provides lubrication in the presence of water. It exhibits mechanical and oxidation stability insuring long grease life. Displays good resistance against rust and corrosion and offers superior resistance to water washout. Truegard Multi-Purpose grease maintains good mobility even in cold weather, and is ideal for centralized grease systems.

Truegard Multi-purpose grease is suitable for bearing temperatures up to 121°C (250°F) and down to –12.2°C (10°F). The water washout test shows it to be applicable where water contamination is encountered. Truegard MultiPurpose Grease provides excellent performance as an automotive chassis lubricant, electric motor bearing lubricant, and general purpose bearing lubrication.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • NLGI Grade 2 is a medium-consistency grease - firm enough to stay in place in most bearings and chassis fittings without slumping, yet soft enough to flow through standard grease guns and centralized dispensing systems. Most automotive, industrial bearing, and electric motor applications call for NLGI 2, so check your equipment manual to confirm the recommended grade before switching greases.

  • This grease is rated for bearing temperatures from -12.2°C (10°F) up to 121°C (250°F), with a minimum dropping point of 365°F - the temperature at which the grease begins to lose its structure. Operating above 250°F risks softening and bleed-out, while temperatures below 10°F can reduce flowability, making re-lubrication intervals shorter in extreme cold.

  • Yes - the product is specifically formulated to provide lubrication in the presence of water, and its water washout test results confirm suitability where water contamination is encountered. It also offers corrosion and rust protection, making it a good choice for exposed chassis fittings, outdoor equipment bearings, or any application prone to moisture ingress.

  • A 140 cSt base oil viscosity is in the medium-to-heavy range, providing a robust lubricant film for moderate-to-high load bearings and chassis joints operating at low-to-moderate speeds. It is well matched to automotive chassis lubrication and general industrial bearings, but may not be the best choice for very high-speed, lightly loaded bearings that typically require lower-viscosity base oils.

  • Yes - the product description specifically states it is ideal for centralized grease systems. Its smooth, buttery NLGI 2 consistency and good cold-weather mobility help it flow consistently through distribution lines and metering valves, reducing blockages even in lower-temperature conditions.

  • Because this is a straight lithium soap grease, it is generally compatible with other lithium-based NLGI 2 greases; however, mixing greases of different soap types (e.g., lithium complex, calcium, or polyurea) can cause incompatibility and degradation of consistency. If the existing grease in your equipment is a different soap type, purging the old grease out before switching to this product is recommended.
