  • API GL-4 indicates the fluid contains a moderate level of extreme-pressure (EP) additives suitable for spiral-bevel and hypoid gears operating under moderate loads, as well as synchronized manual transmissions and PTO systems - it is intentionally less aggressive than GL-5, which can chemically attack the yellow-metal (brass and bronze) components commonly found in tractor transmissions and wet clutches.

  • Brake chatter in wet brake systems is caused by inconsistent or uncontrolled friction between the brake discs and fluid; this fluid uses a controlled-friction additive package specifically tuned for wet brake and PTO clutch engagement, which allows the brakes to hold firmly and the PTO to engage smoothly without the vibration or juddering associated with incorrect fluid.

  • SAE 10W-30 means the fluid behaves like a thin 10-weight oil when cold (supporting quick circulation at start-up) and like a 30-weight oil at full operating temperature (maintaining a protective film under load); this multi-grade range makes it suitable for year-round use in most climates, though always check your equipment manufacturer's viscosity recommendation to confirm compatibility.
