TRUEGARD Soluble 100 Oil is a general purpose soluble oil for light to moderate duty machining on a wide range of materials. Soluble 100 Oil is high mineral oil containing soluble for easy to medium duty machining, including grinding, on a wide variety of materials including as well ferrous as non-ferrous metals.

Whether you're running a large machine shop or you just need an all-purpose, water-soluble coolant, you need a 55-gallon drum of TRUEGARD soluble oil in your supply closet. This coolant was designed for heavy-duty machining and grinding; it protects against corrosion and contains anti-foaming and anti-wear agents. TRUEGARD soluble oil is a low-volatility, low-carbon formula that minimizes deposits and ensures you're able to tackle the toughest jobs. Features & Benefits: *High Lubricity - high mineral oil content of emulsions provides excellent tool lubrication *Emulsion stability - readily emulsifies to form stable emulsions in a wide range of water hardness *Good corrosion protection - for both machine and workpieces *Low foaming *Wide application range - suitable for use with a wide range of general engineering materials *Cost effective *Enhanced lubricity provides extended tool life and reduces tooling costs *Provides improved part finish which reduces overall cost through reqork and scrap rates Concentration Check:The concentration varies depending on the type of machining operation, the water hardness and the required inter-operational corrosion protection. The recommended concentration for use in medium water hardness is: *General Machining: 6-9% *Grinding, Lith Machining: 3-4%  Data (Typical Values)  *Appearance: Amber liquid *Appearance, 5% emulsion: Milky emulsion *Pounds per Gallon, 75 degrees F: 7.3 - 7.4 *Refractometer Factor: 1

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • It is formulated for light to moderate duty general machining as well as grinding, and is compatible with a wide range of engineering materials including both ferrous metals (such as steel and iron) and non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum and copper alloys). Its high mineral oil content provides the lubricity needed across these varied applications.

  • Always add the oil to water (not water to oil) when preparing the emulsion; the product readily emulsifies across a wide range of water hardness levels. For general machining in medium-hardness water, use a 6-9% concentration, and for grinding or light machining use a 3-4% concentration - lower concentrations reduce cost while still providing adequate lubrication and cooling for lighter operations.

  • TRUEGARD Soluble Oil 100 has a refractometer factor of 1, meaning the refractometer reading directly equals the actual concentration percentage - no multiplication factor is needed. For example, a reading of 7 on the refractometer indicates a 7% coolant concentration, making routine sump monitoring straightforward.

  • Grinding generates less cutting force but more heat and requires finer surface finishes, so a lower concentration (3-4%) provides adequate cooling and lubrication without excessive oil film buildup on workpieces or grinding wheels. General machining involves heavier tool loads and more aggressive material removal, so a higher concentration (6-9%) is needed to protect tools and extend their life.

  • TRUEGARD Soluble Oil 100 provides corrosion protection for both machine components and workpieces, which is especially important during inter-operational periods when parts may sit wet before moving to the next process step. The concentration used directly affects the level of corrosion protection - higher concentrations within the recommended range offer greater inter-operational protection in environments with harder water or longer idle times.

  • A low-volatility formula means the oil is less prone to evaporating from the sump, which helps maintain a more stable concentration over time and reduces misting in the work area. The low-carbon formulation minimizes deposits and buildup on machine tools and workpieces, lowering cleanup effort and reducing rework and scrap rates.
