TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils are colorless, odorless, tasteless mixtures of saturated paraffinic and

naphthenic hydrocarbons which meet or exceed FDA 21 CFR 172.878, 178.3620(a) and NF or USP requirements.

TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils are available in a broad range of viscosities ranging from 55-550 SUS @ 40°C,
are exceptionally suited as ingredients in cosmetic preparations, use in food environments where direct or indirect
contact with food may occur, pharmaceutical, (non-sterile excipient applications only and not intended for use as an
active pharmaceutical ingredient), and in applications where odor and staining must be minimized. Custom
formulations of TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils may be available to meet specific criteria such as smoke, flash
and pour points upon request.

TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils meet or exceed current FDA, USP and NF requirements for neutrality, polynuclear and readily carbonizable substances, solid paraffins, sulfur compounds and UV absorbance as applicable.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATION FOR TRUEGARD-

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • Yes. It meets FDA 21 CFR 172.878, which permits white mineral oil as a direct food additive (e.g., as a release agent or protective coating on food), and 178.3620(a), which covers its use as a lubricant in food processing equipment where incidental food contact may occur. Together, these two citations mean the oil is suitable for both direct and indirect food contact environments.

  • It is approved for non-sterile excipient applications only, such as tablet coatings or topical formulations, and meets USP and NF purity standards. It is not intended for use as an active pharmaceutical ingredient and should not be used in sterile manufacturing processes such as injectable drug production.

  • These properties ensure the oil remains chemically neutral and undetectable in finished products, which is essential for cosmetic formulations, food-grade lubrication, and pharmaceutical excipient use where any color, smell, or taste would compromise product quality, regulatory compliance, or consumer acceptance.

  • USP (United States Pharmacopeia) and NF (National Formulary) compliance means the oil has passed standardized purity tests for neutrality, solid paraffins, sulfur compounds, polynuclear substances, readily carbonizable substances, and UV absorbance. These benchmarks confirm the oil is free from harmful impurities and safe for pharmaceutical and food-grade use, providing regulatory traceability if required for audits or formulation documentation.

  • Yes, custom formulations of TRUEGARD PURE white mineral oil may be available upon request to meet specific performance criteria such as smoke, flash, and pour points. This is particularly useful for specialized food processing, cosmetic, or industrial applications where standard grades do not satisfy process or safety thresholds.

  • The TRUEGARD PURE white mineral oil line spans viscosities from 55 to 550 SUS at 40°C, accommodating a wide variety of applications from light lubrication to thicker formulation uses. For confirmation that grade 35 matches your specific viscosity requirement, refer to the product datasheet available from the supplier or consult the specification sheet linked with this listing.
