TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils are colorless, odorless, tasteless mixtures of saturated paraffinic and

naphthenic hydrocarbons which meet or exceed FDA 21 CFR 172.878, 178.3620(a) and NF or USP requirements.

TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils are available in a broad range of viscosities ranging from 55-550 SUS @ 40°C,
are exceptionally suited as ingredients in cosmetic preparations, use in food environments where direct or indirect
contact with food may occur, pharmaceutical, (non-sterile excipient applications only and not intended for use as an
active pharmaceutical ingredient), and in applications where odor and staining must be minimized. Custom
formulations of TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils may be available to meet specific criteria such as smoke, flash
and pour points upon request.

TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oils meet or exceed current FDA, USP and NF requirements for neutrality, polynuclear and readily carbonizable substances, solid paraffins, sulfur compounds and UV absorbance as applicable.

  • Yes. FDA 21 CFR 172.878 covers white mineral oils approved as direct food additives (e.g., as a release agent or protective coating), while 178.3620(a) governs use as a lubricant with incidental food contact. Compliance with both regulations means this oil is suitable for food-processing environments where either direct or indirect contact with food may occur.

  • As a non-sterile excipient, this oil can be used as an inactive ingredient or carrier in pharmaceutical formulations that do not require a sterile environment -- such as topical ointments or tablet coatings. It is not intended as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and should not be used in sterile (injectable or ophthalmic) drug products.

  • The TRUEGARD-PURE white mineral oil line spans 55 to 550 SUS at 40°C across multiple grades; the '21' designation indicates a lighter-end, lower-viscosity grade within that range. Lighter grades are typically preferred for cosmetic formulations, thin film lubrication, or applications where easy spreading and minimal residue are priorities, while heavier grades suit applications requiring more film thickness and load protection.

  • Yes. The product is described as exceptionally suited as an ingredient in cosmetic preparations, partly because it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless and is formulated to minimize odor and staining -- properties that are important in leave-on or rinse-off personal care products.

  • Yes. TRUEGARD offers custom formulations upon request to meet specific criteria such as smoke, flash, and pour points, so buyers with unusual operating temperature ranges or safety classification requirements can contact the vendor to discuss a tailored formulation.

  • The oil meets or exceeds FDA, USP, and NF requirements for neutrality, polynuclear aromatic content, readily carbonizable substances, solid paraffins, sulfur compounds, and UV absorbance -- the key purity benchmarks that ensure the oil will not introduce contaminants, off-flavors, or reactive compounds into food, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical products.
