Maintenance-saving and cost-effective, Shell Morlina S3 BA 680 is the ideal choice for MORGOIL bearing systems and steel mill circulating systems. It's also perfect for industrial gearboxes, including enclosed varieties where the manufacturer recommends an non-EP rust-inhibited, oxidation-inhibited oil. Because Shell Morlina S3 BA 680 has excellent protective properties against oxidation and rust, even in water-rich environments, it's the perfect solution for high-temperature operations.

Long oil life Maintenance saving Shell Morlina S3 BA oils are designed to give superior oxidation resistance under high operating temperatures to give extended oil drain capability compared to basic bearing and circulating oils. The excellent thermal and oxidative stability helps reduce the formation of sludge and other harmful oxidation products. The result is extended oil life, less maintenance and less downtime. Excellent rust & corrosion protection Shell Morlina S3 BA oils are formulated with an effective additive package to help prolong the life of bearings and circulating systems through: Enhanced water separation characteristics that help ensure that critical oil films are retained between highly loaded parts in heavily contaminated environments. Good air release characteristics to minimize cavitation and associated damage to circulating pumps. Helps protect against corrosion, even in the presence of water. Enhancing system efficiency Shell Morlina S3 BA oils have outstanding demulsibility and allow water to be shed rapidly from the oil. The water then may be removed by drainage or centrifuge from the lubrication system, thus protecting the installation against corrosion, premature wear & failure. The excellent demulsibility also helps minimize the formation of emulsions which reduce filtration effectiveness, restrictcirculation & promote bacterial growth. The use of fine filter filtration helps ensure effective contaminant free lubrication to critical machine parts.åÊ

Main Applications
MORGOIL type bearing systems
Approved for use in Morgoil type bearing commonly found in steel mill applications. (MORGOIL is a registered trademark of the Morgan Construction Company)

Heavily contaminated lubrication systems Shell Morlina S3 BA oils are recommended for circulating oil systems where water separation is a key issue.

Plain and rolling element bearings
Industrial gear boxes
Enclosed spur, helical, bevel and worm gearboxes where the use of a non-EP rust & oxidation inhibited oil is approved by the equipment manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This oil is designed for MORGOIL type bearing systems commonly found in steel mill applications and for circulating oil systems where water separation is a key requirement. It is also suitable for plain and rolling element bearings, as well as enclosed industrial gearboxes — including spur, helical, bevel, and worm types — where the equipment manufacturer approves the use of a non-EP rust and oxidation inhibited oil.

  • Shell Morlina S3 BA 680 is a non-EP oil, formulated as a rust and oxidation (R&O) inhibited product. This distinction matters because certain industrial gearboxes and bearing systems — including MORGOIL-type systems — specifically require a non-EP oil. Always confirm your equipment manufacturer's recommendation before selecting a lubricant.

  • This oil features outstanding demulsibility, allowing water to separate rapidly from the oil so it can be removed by drainage or centrifuge. It also provides corrosion protection even in the presence of water, maintains critical oil films between heavily loaded parts, and minimizes emulsion formation that could restrict circulation or promote bacterial growth.

  • Shell Morlina S3 BA 680 meets the Morgan MORGOIL Lubricant Specification New Oil (Rev. 1.1), Morgan MORGOIL Advanced Lubricant New Oil (Rev. 2.4), DIN 51517-1 Type C, DIN 51517-2 Type CL, AGMA 9005 for inhibited R&O oils, Danieli Standard Oil 6.124249F, and Danieli Super Demulsibility Oil 6.124249F. For equipment-specific approval questions, consult the Shell Technical Helpdesk or the OEM Approvals website.

  • Shell Morlina S3 BA 680 is engineered for superior oxidation resistance under high operating temperatures, which extends oil drain intervals compared to basic bearing and circulating oils. Its excellent thermal and oxidative stability reduces sludge and harmful oxidation product formation, leading to longer oil life and fewer service interruptions.

  • Yes, this oil is designed for use with fine filter filtration to help ensure contaminant-free lubrication to critical machine parts. Its good air release characteristics help minimize cavitation and associated damage to circulating pumps within the lubrication system.

Key Features

  • Superior oxidation resistance at high operating temperatures extends oil drain intervals and reduces sludge and harmful oxidation product formation compared to basic bearing and circulating oils.

  • Outstanding demulsibility allows water to shed rapidly from the oil, which can then be removed by drainage or centrifuge to protect against corrosion, premature wear, and failure.

  • Enhanced water separation and good air release characteristics help retain critical oil films under heavy loads and minimize cavitation damage to circulating pumps.

  • Approved for MORGOIL-type bearing systems commonly found in steel mill applications, and recommended for industrial gearboxes where a non-EP rust and oxidation inhibited oil is specified by the equipment manufacturer.

  • Meets multiple industry specifications including Morgan MORGOIL Lubricant Specification (Rev. 1.1 & Rev. 2.4), DIN 51517-1 Type C, DIN 51517-2 Type CL, AGMA 9005 for inhibited R&O oils, and Danieli standards.
