If you are looking for the proper pumping system for your diesel exhaust fluid, we can help. Keller-Heartt carries pumps from American Blue Systems that are compatible with 55-gallon drums of fluid.  Consider the TIM-DEF-2 Stationary Electric Pumping System, which includes a self-priming electric membrane pump sans dynamic seal to trim down maintenance time. We also provide the TIM-DEF-3 IBC Tank Electric Pumping System, which can be toted given the proper equipment.

For smaller pumping jobs, the hand-operated rotary pump is also compatible with 5-gallon pails of diesel exhaust fluid.  The pump features a non-drip spout and transfers 8 oz. of fluid per pump.

What is Blue DEF?

A diesel exhaust fluid (32.5% high-purity urea in deionized water) used in SCR systems to convert NOx into nitrogen and water. It’s not a fuel additive.

Does Blue DEF meet ISO 22241/AUS 32?

 Yes. Our Blue DEF meets AUS 32 and ISO 22241/DIN 70070 specs for purity and concentration to protect SCR components.

Which size should I buy for a small fleet?

Most small fleets start with a 55-gallon drum; upgrade to a 275-gallon tote if you refill weekly.

How long does DEF last?

Stored between 12–86°F in a sealed container, shelf life is about 12 months. Heat shortens shelf life.

Do I need a special pump for DEF?

Yes, always use DEF-rated pumps, hoses, and fittings to prevent contamination. See our electric and manual options.

Is Blue DEF safe in winter?

DEF freezes at ~12°F. It can thaw and be used again without loss of quality, but keep containers protected where possible.

What purity details matter?

Low metals (Fe, Al) and low phosphates prevent deposits and sensor damage. Our DEF meets strict ISO 22241 impurity limits.
