Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services

  • The '5W' indicates strong cold-temperature flow for reliable cold starts, while the '40' describes the oil's viscosity at normal operating temperature, maintaining a robust protective film under high load and heat. This makes 5W-40 well-suited for engines that face a wide temperature range or operate under sustained heavy stress.

  • API SP is the current top-tier API service category for gasoline passenger car and light-duty truck engines, delivering enhanced protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI), improved deposit control, and better wear protection compared to older API ratings. It is backward compatible, meaning this oil can be used in engines originally specifying older API service categories.

  • GF-6A and GF-6B are ILSAC's latest gasoline engine oil standards, with GF-6B specifically targeting ultra-low-viscosity grades while GF-6A covers a broader viscosity range. An oil meeting both standards offers flexibility across multiple OEM specifications that reference either designation.

  • TRUEGARD describes this oil as ideal for a wide range of vehicles and machinery, making it appropriate for fleets, auto repair shops, and industrial operations. Buyers should confirm their specific equipment OEM specifications require or allow a 5W-40 viscosity grade and the API SP/ILSAC GF-6 specification level.

  • Full synthetic formulations resist thermal and oxidative breakdown better than conventional oils, maintain stable viscosity across a wider temperature range, and can support longer drain intervals under demanding conditions. For high-load commercial or industrial use, this translates to more consistent protection and potentially lower maintenance frequency.

  • A 275-gallon IBC tote typically uses a 2-inch ball valve outlet and requires a compatible fluid transfer pump and hose rated for petroleum products. Buyers should ensure they have appropriate dispensing infrastructure in place before taking delivery of a tote-size order.
