TRUEGARD #1011A CUTTING OIL - 55 Gallon Drum

An 'active' cutting oil contains reactive sulfur compounds that chemically enhance film strength and lubricity under machining pressure. Because the sulfur is reactive, this product is formulated specifically for steel and steel alloys - reactive sulfur can discolor or chemically attack non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass, and aluminum, so it should not be used on those materials.

No - the formulation is specifically engineered for less severe machining tasks such as drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, and threading on steel and steel alloys in screw machines and lathes. For extremely heavy-duty or high-pressure operations on tough alloys, a heavier-duty extreme pressure cutting oil would be more appropriate.

TRUEGARD #1011A is a straight (neat) petroleum-based cutting oil and is applied undiluted directly to the cutting zone. It is not a water-miscible or soluble oil and should not be mixed with water or water-based coolants.

Paraffin wax can precipitate and solidify within machinery, particularly at lower temperatures, causing clogged filters and fittings. By using virgin petroleum oils selected to be free of paraffin wax fractions, TRUEGARD #1011A maintains consistent flow and helps avoid costly maintenance issues and downtime.

The mild detergency actively prevents swarf - the metal chips and fine particles generated during cutting - from adhering to machine components and tooling. This keeps the cutting zone cleaner, reduces the frequency of manual cleaning, and contributes to prolonged equipment life and more consistent machining results.

The product's viscosity is specifically selected to balance both lubricating and cooling properties, so it performs dual duty in the cutting zone. However, as a straight oil rather than a water-based coolant, its primary strength is lubricity and film strength under pressure, with cooling as a secondary function.
