TRUEGARD GEAR OILS are designed for heavy duty, continuous operation as well as shock loading on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. The lighter grades may be used to lubricate highly loaded bearings where common machine oils do not provide the necessary extreme pressure properties. The thicker grades are exceptional worm gear oils.

TRUEGARD GEAR OILS exhibit superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss to give these oils exceptional high temperature stability and long life. The extreme pressure lubricity is achieved without the use of active sulfur, allowing these oils to lubricate without risk of staining. Combine these properties with very good rust protection and anti-foam properties and these oils offer distinct operating advantages to the industrial user.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This oil is formulated for heavy duty, continuous operation as well as shock loading applications across all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. The EP 150 grade is particularly well suited for worm gear systems, where a thicker viscosity is needed for adequate film strength.

  • The 150 refers to the ISO viscosity grade, indicating a relatively thick oil designed for high-load gearing applications such as worm gears. Lighter grades in the TRUEGARD Gear Oil line are better suited for highly loaded bearings where standard machine oils lack sufficient extreme pressure properties, but where a full 150-weight oil would be too viscous.

  • Yes - the extreme pressure performance is achieved without the use of active sulfur, which is the compound commonly responsible for staining and corrosive attack on yellow metals like bronze. This makes it safe for use in gearboxes containing bronze components.

  • TRUEGARD Gear Oil EP 150 is formulated with superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss, giving it exceptional high temperature stability and long service life. This makes it well suited for continuous-duty industrial operations where thermal degradation would otherwise be a concern.

  • Yes, the formulation includes both rust protection and anti-foam properties, which are important in gearboxes exposed to moisture ingress or high agitation. These characteristics help maintain oil integrity and protect gear surfaces over time.

  • The product data does not specify compatibility with other gear oil formulations, so flushing the system before switching to TRUEGARD Gear Oil EP 150 is generally the safest practice to avoid contamination or compromised additive performance. Consult the product data sheet or Safety Data Sheet available from Keller-Heartt for additional guidance.
