Truegard Soluble 384 is the go to soluble coolant for versatile metalworking applications. This multi-purpose heavy duty coolant can machine aluminum alloys, titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, and all automotive steels.

At Keller-Heartt Oil, we are proud to carry TRUEGARD soluble 384 coolant in 275 gallon totes for high volume metalworking applications. TRUEGARD Soluble 384 is a general purpose soluble oil for light to moderate duty machining on a wide range of materials.

TRUEGARD Soluble 384 coolant is high mineral oil containing soluble for easy to medium duty machining, including grinding, on a wide variety of materials including as well ferrous as non-ferrous metals.

Benefits:

  • Bio-Stable formula reduces the need to dispose coolant, and saves on adding additional new coolant
  • No need for sump additives
  • Excellent lubricity and extreme pressure additives provide extended tool life, and increase production
  • Outstanding corrosion protection - for both machine and workpieces - provides parts protection

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • Soluble 384 is formulated for a broad range of materials, including aluminum alloys, titanium, Inconel, stainless steel, all automotive steels, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals generally, making it a versatile choice for mixed-material shops.

  • For general machining, mix the concentrate at 6-9% in water; for grinding and light machining, a lower 3-4% concentration is recommended. Add concentrate to water (not water to concentrate) and stir thoroughly to achieve a stable white emulsion.

  • When you measure coolant concentration with a refractometer, the reading must be multiplied by 1.1 to get the true concentration percentage in the sump. Using this correction factor ensures you are maintaining the correct mixture ratio and not inadvertently running the coolant too lean or too rich.

  • Bio-Stable means the formula resists microbial growth in the sump, which is a common cause of premature coolant breakdown and foul odors. Because the coolant maintains its integrity longer, you can extend drain intervals and eliminate the need for separate sump additives or biocides.

  • This mildly alkaline pH range is intentional: it provides corrosion protection for both the machine surfaces and the workpieces while remaining safe for operators. Monitoring pH regularly helps confirm the coolant is still active - a significant drop below 8.2 typically signals it is time to replenish or replace the sump.

  • Soluble 384 is rated for light to medium duty machining and grinding; its extreme pressure additives support general production work across a wide material range, but it is not designed for the most demanding heavy-duty cutting or high-heat operations. For severe-duty applications requiring maximum EP performance, a dedicated semi-synthetic or straight cutting oil would be more appropriate.
