TRUEGARD SYNCOOL #741 is a premium synthetic coolant designed for grinding and light machining.

TRUEGARD SYNCOOL #741 is blended from select raw materials to produce a coolant with outstanding rust inhibition, Ph control and a high degree of bio-resistace.

TRUEGARD SYNCOOL #741 utilizes a phosphorous complex to provide enough lubricity for light machining of steel alloys. Compared to similar coolants, part finish and tool life should improve.

TRUEGARD SYNCOOL #741 should be used at 20:1 for machining and up to 60:1 for grinding.  Heat removal, chip settling, and surface finish will be noticeably improved.

TRUEGARD SYNCOOL #741 possesses a high performance biocide package to ensure long-
term, odor free use.

TRUEGARD SYNCOOL #741 does not contain Triazine, DEA, DCHA or nitrites.

    Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
    • Yes, the recommended ratio depends on the operation: use 20:1 (water to coolant) for light machining and up to 60:1 for grinding. The higher dilution for grinding is practical because grinding generates less cutting force and requires primarily cooling and chip flushing, while machining at 20:1 delivers the additional lubricity needed to protect tooling and improve part finish on steel alloys.

    • The product is specifically formulated with a phosphorous complex to provide lubricity for light machining of steel alloys, so it is best suited for ferrous steel workpieces. The product data does not explicitly list compatibility with non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, or copper, so consult the technical data sheet before using it on those materials.

    • These compounds are associated with health and environmental concerns: DEA (diethanolamine) and nitrites can combine to form potentially carcinogenic nitrosamines, DCHA (dicyclohexylamine) raises similar concerns, and Triazine biocides have faced increasing regulatory scrutiny. A coolant formulated without them reduces worker exposure risk and can make compliance with workplace health regulations easier.

    • TRUEGARD Syncool 741 includes a high-performance biocide package designed to suppress bacterial and fungal growth that would otherwise degrade the coolant, produce foul odors, and require early sump changes. This helps maintain a stable pH and consistent performance over long periods of use, reducing downtime and coolant disposal costs.

    • Fully synthetic coolants contain no petroleum oils, which means they form a true solution in water rather than an emulsion, resulting in better heat removal, clearer fluid (making it easier to see workpieces), and improved chip settling. The absence of oil also reduces the food source for bacteria, supporting the bio-resistance this product is designed to deliver.

    • Best practice for metalworking coolants is to always add concentrate to water (not water to concentrate) to ensure proper mixing and avoid foaming. For a new sump, mix at 20:1 for machining or up to 60:1 for grinding as directed; when topping off an existing sump, use a refractometer to check the actual concentration and adjust accordingly rather than adding straight water or concentrate blindly.
