TRUEGARD GEAR OILS are designed for heavy duty, continuous operation as well as shock loading on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. The lighter grades may be used to lubricate highly loaded bearings where common machine oils do not provide the necessary extreme pressure properties. The thicker grades are exceptional worm gear oils.

TRUEGARD GEAR OILS exhibit superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss to give these oils exceptional high temperature stability and long life. The extreme pressure lubricity is achieved without the use of active sulfur, allowing these oils to lubricate without risk of staining. Combine these properties with very good rust protection and anti-foam properties and these oils offer distinct operating advantages to the industrial user.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This oil is formulated for heavy-duty, continuous operation as well as shock-loading conditions on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. The ISO VG 220 grade also makes it an excellent choice for worm gear applications, where thicker viscosity grades are particularly effective.

  • EP stands for Extreme Pressure, meaning the oil contains additives that prevent metal-to-metal contact under high loads - conditions where common machine oils lack sufficient protection. This makes it well-suited for heavily loaded gear systems and shock-load applications that standard lubricants cannot adequately handle.

  • Yes. The extreme pressure lubricity in TRUEGARD Gear Oil 220 EP is achieved without the use of active sulfur, which eliminates the risk of staining or chemical attack on bronze and other yellow metal components that reactive sulfur-based EP additives can cause.

  • The formulation provides superb oxidation inhibition and strong resistance to viscosity loss, giving it exceptional high-temperature stability and long service life - helping maintain consistent lubrication performance over prolonged operation without premature breakdown.

  • Yes. TRUEGARD Gear Oil 220 EP includes both rust protection and anti-foam properties, which help prevent corrosion on internal gear surfaces and maintain reliable lubrication by reducing air entrainment during operation.

  • ISO VG 220 is a higher-viscosity grade best suited for worm gears and heavily loaded industrial gearing. If your application involves highly loaded bearings where common machine oils are insufficient, a lighter grade in the TRUEGARD Gear Oil line would be more appropriate - the product description notes that lighter grades are specifically recommended for those bearing applications.
