TRUEGARD GEAR OILS are designed for heavy duty, continuous operation as well as shock loading on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. The lighter grades may be used to lubricate highly loaded bearings where common machine oils do not provide the necessary extreme pressure properties. The thicker grades are exceptional worm gear oils.

TRUEGARD GEAR OILS exhibit superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss to give these oils exceptional high temperature stability and long life. The extreme pressure lubricity is achieved without the use of active sulfur, allowing these oils to lubricate without risk of staining. Combine these properties with very good rust protection and anti-foam properties and these oils offer distinct operating advantages to the industrial user.

  • It is formulated for heavy-duty, continuous operation and shock loading on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. As a thicker-grade (ISO 150) oil, it is particularly well-matched for worm gear applications, where higher viscosity is needed to maintain a protective film under the sliding contact forces typical of worm drives.

  • EP stands for Extreme Pressure - the oil contains additives that chemically protect gear tooth surfaces under high loads that would otherwise cause metal-to-metal contact and accelerated wear. This is especially important in shock-load or heavily loaded gear systems where conventional oils cannot maintain adequate film strength.

  • Yes. TRUEGARD Gear Oil EP 150 achieves its extreme pressure performance without the use of active sulfur, which is the component in many EP oils that can chemically react with and stain or corrode bronze and yellow metal parts. This makes it safe for use in gearboxes that include bronze gearing or bushings.

  • The oil is formulated with superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss, giving it exceptional thermal stability and extended service life. This makes it well-suited for machinery that runs continuously or at elevated temperatures, where oxidative degradation would otherwise shorten oil change intervals.

  • The TRUEGARD Gear Oil line notes that lighter grades (lower viscosity) are appropriate for highly loaded bearings where standard machine oils lack sufficient extreme pressure properties. EP 150's heavier viscosity makes it best matched to gear applications - particularly worm gears - rather than most bearing lubrication needs, where a lighter EP grade would typically be the right choice.

  • Yes. The formulation includes both rust inhibitors and anti-foam additives. Rust protection guards internal gear and housing surfaces during idle periods or in the presence of moisture, while anti-foam properties prevent aeration that could compromise the oil film and lead to lubrication failures during operation.
