TRUEGARD GEAR OILS are designed for heavy duty, continuous operation as well as shock loading on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. The lighter grades may be used to lubricate highly loaded bearings where common machine oils do not provide the necessary extreme pressure properties. The thicker grades are exceptional worm gear oils.

TRUEGARD GEAR OILS exhibit superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss to give these oils exceptional high temperature stability and long life. The extreme pressure lubricity is achieved without the use of active sulfur, allowing these oils to lubricate without risk of staining. Combine these properties with very good rust protection and anti-foam properties and these oils offer distinct operating advantages to the industrial user.

  • This oil is formulated for heavy duty, continuous operation as well as shock loading on all types of industrial steel and bronze gearing. It is also an exceptional choice for worm gear applications, where higher-viscosity oils are required to maintain a reliable lubricating film.

  • ISO VG 320 indicates a relatively high viscosity, making this oil well suited for slow-speed, high-load gear systems such as worm gears, where a thick film is needed to prevent metal-to-metal contact. Lighter-viscosity EP gear oils from the same line are better suited for faster-speed enclosed gearboxes, so choosing the right grade depends on your equipment's speed, load, and manufacturer specification.

  • EP additives form a protective layer on gear tooth surfaces under high contact pressures, preventing wear, scuffing, and welding that standard mineral oils cannot prevent. This is particularly critical in shock-loaded or heavily loaded gear systems where peak pressures would otherwise break down a conventional oil film.

  • Yes - the extreme pressure performance is achieved without the use of active sulfur, which is the additive type known to chemically attack and stain bronze, brass, and other copper-based metals. This makes it suitable for mixed-metal gearboxes that include bronze worm wheels or bushings.

  • The product data notes that the lighter grades in the TRUEGARD Gear Oil line can be used to lubricate highly loaded bearings where standard machine oils do not provide sufficient extreme pressure protection. At ISO VG 320, this is a heavy grade primarily targeted at worm gears and slow-speed, high-load enclosed gearboxes rather than high-speed bearing applications.

  • The oil is formulated with superb oxidation inhibition and resistance to viscosity loss, giving it high temperature stability so it maintains its protective film and does not break down quickly under sustained or elevated operating temperatures. It also includes rust protection and anti-foam properties to further support reliable, long-term operation in industrial environments.
