TRUEGARD SPINDLE OILS are a series of light bodied, light colored oils manufactured for the lubrication of high speed machine tool spindles. These oils are compounded to give excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. These oils show good demulsibility to ensure spindles and chucks do not seize shut.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This oil is specifically formulated for the lubrication of high-speed machine tool spindles. Its light-bodied composition makes it suitable for precision spindle applications where a thin, low-viscosity fluid is required to reduce friction and heat at high rotational speeds.

  • ISO VG 10 indicates a low viscosity, meaning the oil flows very freely - ideal for high-speed spindles that generate significant heat and require minimal fluid resistance. The TRUEGARD Spindle Oil series also includes grades 4, 6, and 15, so if your machine manufacturer specifies a different ISO viscosity grade, you should select that corresponding variant.

  • Demulsibility is the oil's ability to shed water rather than forming an emulsion. In spindle applications, water contamination from coolants is common, and an oil with poor demulsibility can create a sludge that causes spindles and chucks to seize. TRUEGARD Spindle Oil 10's good demulsibility helps keep the lubrication film intact and prevents seizure.

  • TRUEGARD Spindle Oil 10 is compounded with additives that provide excellent resistance to both wear and corrosion, helping to extend the service life of precision spindle components and reduce the risk of surface degradation from metal-to-metal contact or moisture exposure.

  • The product data does not specify compatibility with other oil brands or formulations. As a best practice for precision machine tools, it is generally recommended to fully drain and clean the system before switching to a new oil to avoid contamination and ensure the new lubricant performs as intended.

  • Based on the safety data sheet reference, the TRUEGARD Spindle Oil series includes grades 4, 6, 10, and 15. Choosing the correct grade depends on your equipment manufacturer's specifications, with lower grades suited to the highest-speed spindles and higher grades for moderate-speed applications.
