TRUEGARD SPINDLE OILS are a series of light bodied, light colored oils manufactured for the lubrication of high speed machine tool spindles. These oils are compounded to give excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. These oils show good demulsibility to ensure spindles and chucks do not seize shut.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • The "6" refers to a very low viscosity rating, making this an extremely light-bodied oil intended for high-speed machine tool spindles where minimizing friction and heat generation is essential. TRUEGARD also produces spindle oils in grades 4, 10, and 15 - lower grades suit faster-spinning, lightly loaded spindles, while higher grades are more appropriate for slower speeds or heavier load conditions.

  • Demulsibility is an oil's ability to separate cleanly from water rather than forming a stable emulsion. Good demulsibility prevents water and coolant contamination from accumulating inside spindle bores and chucks, which is what directly causes spindles and chucks to seize shut during operation.

  • It is formulated specifically for high-speed machine tool spindles, which are the rotating assemblies found in precision machining equipment. The combination of light viscosity, wear resistance, and corrosion protection makes it suited for applications where accurate, high-speed spindle rotation must be maintained reliably.

  • Wear resistance helps extend the service life of spindle bearings and internal surfaces under continuous high-speed operation, while corrosion resistance protects metal components from rust and oxidation that can develop in environments where moisture or coolant mist is present.

  • A light-colored formulation makes it visually easier for technicians to detect oil contamination, discoloration from overheating, or degradation during routine checks, supporting more accurate condition monitoring compared to darker oils where changes in oil condition are harder to spot.
