Our 5 gallon pails of Mobil Vactra Oil No. 2 Slideway Waylube offer a premium-quality  mineral based lubricant that is used in machine tool slideways. Lubricants that are used in a variety of applications in machining operation. Designed to meet the requirements for accuracy, aqueous coolant separability, and equipment protection of precision machine tools. The unique additive package provides exceptional frictional properties on a wide variety of way materials, including steel on steel and steel on polymer, reducing stick-slip in linear bearings and chatter. This allows smooth, uniform motion at design travel speeds enhancing machine productivity and accuracy helping to prolong tool life and enhance surface finish. It has been optimized to provide separability from many aqueous coolants while minimizing the corrosive effects of high pH coolants on lubricated surfaces. No. 2 represents the thickness of the oil which is an International Standards Organization Viscosity Grade (ISO VG) 68.Our 5 gallon pails of Mobil Vactra 2 have the following benefits:

Controlled Frictional Characteristics:Helps eliminate stick slip; allows consistently accurate machining

Multi-material Capabilities:Suitable for a wide range of way material combinations allowing for product consolidation

Water and Aqueous Coolant Separability:Helps improve the life and performance of many aqueous coolants

Adhesiveness:Prevents removal of lubricant from critical surfaces

Long Term Rust and Corrosion Protection:Helps reduce the deterioration of sliding surfaces in the presence of water and aqueous coolants

Application

  • Suitable for use in applications that require Cincinnati Machine specifications P53, P47, and P50
  • Mobil vactra 2 way oil is recommended for horizontal slideways on small to medium size machine tools
  • Suitable for circulating application in large machines and as a moderate duty hydraulic fluid
  • Lubrication of ball screws, linear guides, headstocks, translating screws
  • Applications where oil contamination of the aqueous coolants shortens coolant batch life

Frequently asked questions

  • This oil is recommended for horizontal slideways on small to medium size machine tools, as well as circulating applications in large machines. It is also suitable for lubricating ball screws, linear guides, headstocks, and translating screws, and can serve as a moderate duty hydraulic fluid.

  • The 'No. 2' designation refers to the oil's viscosity, which is ISO Viscosity Grade (ISO VG) 68. This grade makes it appropriate for horizontal slideway applications on small to medium machine tools where that specific thickness is required — choosing the correct viscosity grade is important for accurate motion and proper film formation.

  • Mobil Vactra Oil No. 2 is suitable for a wide range of way material combinations, including steel on steel and steel on polymer. This broad compatibility allows it to be used across different machine tool designs without needing multiple products.

  • This oil is formulated to separate from many aqueous coolants, which helps preserve coolant performance and extend coolant batch life. It also minimizes the corrosive effects of high pH coolants on lubricated surfaces, making it well-suited for environments where coolant contamination is a concern.

  • Yes, it is suitable for applications requiring Cincinnati Machine specifications P53, P47, and P50. For any other OEM requirements, confirm compatibility against the product's Technical Data Sheet before use.

  • The controlled frictional characteristics of this oil help eliminate stick-slip in linear bearings and reduce chatter, enabling smooth and uniform motion at design travel speeds. This directly supports more accurate machining, longer tool life, and improved surface finish quality.
