MADE FOR MEASURING SAND AND OTHER SETTLED MATTER IN WATER AND SEWAGE, THESE IMHOFF CONES ARE MOLDED OF GLASS-CLEAR, UNBREAKABLE STYRENE ACRYLONITRILE. USE A POXYGRID® CONE RACK TO SUPPORT THREE OR FOUR IMHOFF SETTLING CONES IN A SINGLE ROW FOR CLEARER VIEWING.
CONES HAVE CONTINUOUS GRADUATIONS UP TO 1000ML AND ARE IDEAL FOR TESTS WHERE A HIGH VOLUME OF SETTLED MATTER IS PRESENT LEAKPROOF POLYETHYLENE PLUG PERMITS EASY WITHDRAWAL OF SEDIMENT FOR GRAVIMETRIC ANALYSIS AND SIMPLIFIES CLEANING CONES GRADUATED IN THESE DIVISIONS: 0-2ML IN 0.1ML, 2-10ML IN 0.5ML, 10-40ML IN 1ML, 40-100ML IN 2ML, AND 100-1000ML IN 50ML LIGHTWEIGHT POXYGRID® RACKS HOLD CONE TIPS UP OFF THE BENCHTOP FOR EASIER VIEWING AND TO ALLOW PLUG REMOVAL IF REQUIRED WIRE FRAME RACKS HAVE A WIDE BASE FOR STABILITY; EPOXY COATED FOR DURABILITY AND EASY CLEANING

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This cone is designed for measuring sand and other settled matter in water and sewage samples. It is particularly well-suited for tests where a high volume of settled matter is expected, given its 1000ml capacity and continuous graduations across the full range.

  • The cone is molded from glass-clear styrene acrylonitrile, which is described as unbreakable. This combines the optical clarity needed for accurate reading of settled layers with significantly greater durability than traditional glass Imhoff cones.

  • The graduations become progressively coarser as volume increases, reflecting real-world measurement needs: 0–2ml is marked in 0.1ml increments, 2–10ml in 0.5ml, 10–40ml in 1ml, 40–100ml in 2ml, and 100–1000ml in 50ml increments. This fine resolution at low volumes allows accurate measurement of small amounts of settled solids.

  • The cone includes a leakproof polyethylene plug at the tip. Removing the plug allows easy withdrawal of the collected sediment for gravimetric analysis and also simplifies cleaning after use.

  • A rack is recommended to support the cone tip off the benchtop, which allows easier viewing of settled material and provides access to the plug for sediment removal. The Poxygrid® cone rack is compatible and can hold three or four Imhoff settling cones in a single row; the wire frame design features a wide base for stability and an epoxy coating for durability and easy cleaning.

Key Features

  • Molded from glass-clear, unbreakable styrene acrylonitrile for reliable measurement of sand and other settled matter in water and sewage samples

  • Continuous graduations up to 1000ml make it ideal for tests where a high volume of settled matter is present

  • Leakproof polyethylene plug enables easy withdrawal of sediment for gravimetric analysis and simplifies cleaning

  • Precise graduated divisions: 0-2ml in 0.1ml, 2-10ml in 0.5ml, 10-40ml in 1ml, 40-100ml in 2ml, and 100-1000ml in 50ml

  • Compatible with POXYGRID® cone racks, which hold cone tips up off the benchtop to support three or four cones in a single row for clearer viewing
