Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This funnel comes with a coarse porosity Fritware® removable plate, which has a pore size of 90–130 microns and is supported by a multiple ring grid with a non-porous peripheral ring that seals filter paper when used. Perforated filter plates are a separate option made of 4.8mm thick HDPE with 4.8mm perforations on 11mm centers — they are suited for coarse filtration, use with cloth or paper filters, or precious metals recovery, whereas Fritware® plates provide defined micron-rated porosity for more controlled filtration.

  • The funnel features a removable hose barbed connector that accepts 12.7mm (½") I.D. tubing. The connector threads into a ¾" NPT bung on the funnel body, making it easy to remove or replace as needed.

  • This funnel and its filter plates are rated for use between -20°C (-4°F) and a maximum of 52°C (125°F), making it suitable for ambient and moderately cooled filtration applications but not high-temperature processes.

  • Yes. The Fritware® filter plate features a non-porous ring at its periphery that seals filter paper against the plate when in use, allowing you to work with conventional filter paper in addition to the porous plate itself.

  • The removable plate design is specifically noted as suitable for precious metals recovery applications, in addition to standard large-volume liquid filtration, giving this funnel versatility across different process needs.

  • The F36820-0118 funnel trowel is a compatible accessory designed to quickly and efficiently smooth fissures that can form in the filter bed during the filtration process.

Key Features

  • Large-volume polyethylene plastic table-top Buchner funnel designed for fast, high-capacity filtration using your choice of Fritware® or perforated filter plate.

  • Fritware® porous HDPE filter plates (6.4mm thick) are available in medium (45-90 microns) or coarse (90-130 microns) porosity; a non-porous peripheral ring seals filter paper when used.

  • Fixed or removable perforated HDPE filter plates (4.8mm thick) feature 4.8mm perforations on 11mm centers; removable version supports precious metals recovery applications.

  • Removable hose barbed connector accepts 12.7mm (½") I.D. tubing and threads directly into the ¾" NPT bung on the funnel for a secure, flexible connection.

  • Rated for use across a wide temperature range from -20°C (-4°F) to a maximum of 52°C (125°F), suitable for varied laboratory filtration environments.
