TRUEGARD SPINDLE OILS are a series of light bodied, light colored oils manufactured for the lubrication of high speed machine tool spindles. These oils are compounded to give excellent resistance to wear and corrosion. These oils show good demulsibility to ensure spindles and chucks do not seize shut.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • This oil is specifically formulated for high-speed machine tool spindles. It is a light-bodied, light-colored lubricant engineered to handle the demands of precision spindle assemblies where low viscosity and clean-running properties are critical.

  • High-speed spindles generate significant heat, so a light-bodied (low-viscosity) oil reduces fluid friction and heat buildup at elevated RPMs. Despite its low viscosity, TRUEGARD Spindle Oil is compounded to provide excellent wear and corrosion resistance, so lighter weight does not come at the expense of component protection.

  • Demulsibility is the oil's ability to shed water rather than form a stable emulsion with it. In machine tool spindle applications, this is critical because trapped water-oil mixtures can cause corrosion, and the product data specifically notes that good demulsibility helps ensure spindles and chucks do not seize shut.

  • Based on the safety data sheet, the TRUEGARD Spindle Oil series includes grades 4, 6, 10, and 15. Lower grades (4 and 6) are suited to higher-speed spindles requiring the lightest lubrication film, while grades 10 and 15 are appropriate for lower-speed or more heavily loaded spindle applications - always consult your machine manufacturer's specification to confirm the correct grade.

  • The product data does not state compatibility with other lubricants, so mixing with different oil types or brands is not recommended without verification. If switching lubricants, it is best practice to flush the spindle system before introducing the new oil to avoid compromising its wear and corrosion protection properties.
