TRUEGARD Way Lube 68 Oils are specially designed for the lubrication of machine tool slides, tables and feed mechanisms. Their enhanced tackiness and stick-slip characteristics combine to offer superior frictional performance on slideways. They are specially recommended in cases where high exposure to soluble cutting fluids exists.

WAYLUBE 68 fluid is specially formulated for slide-way, conveyor chains, etc. Its chemistry has lubricant antioxidant performance, anticorrosive properties and an exceptional adhesion on metallic surfaces. The extreme pressure additives and  an impressive resistance to wear. The extreme pressure additives create an additional protective film on metal, which reduce friction and scuffing of the regions exposed to high temperatures.

WAYLUBE 68 fluid is formulated with premium high viscosity index paraffinic oils, to which anti-foam, anti-corrosion, anti-wear and extreme-pressure additives are added.

Synthetic Oil vs. Mineral Oil - Which Should I Choose? There isn’t a universal standard of choosing between synthetic and mineral oil but there are many things to take into consideration during the decision making process.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about our products and services
  • Way Lube 68 is specifically designed for machine tool slides, tables, and feed mechanisms, and is also suitable for conveyor chains and other slideway applications. Its enhanced tackiness and stick-slip properties make it well-suited for any surface requiring superior frictional performance on slideways.

  • The oil's exceptional adhesion on metallic surfaces and anticorrosive properties allow it to maintain a protective film even when cutting fluid contamination is present. This helps prevent rust and lubricant washout in environments where water-based coolants are regularly used.

  • ISO VG 68 indicates a medium-weight oil with a nominal kinematic viscosity of 68 cSt at 40°C, balancing film strength with flowability on slideways. You should verify the viscosity grade recommended in your machine tool's lubrication manual to confirm VG 68 is the correct specification before use.

  • The EP additives in Way Lube 68 form an additional protective film on metal contact surfaces, which reduces friction and scuffing in zones exposed to high temperatures and heavy loads. This is particularly important on slideways that experience intermittent or high-pressure contact during machining operations.

  • Way Lube 68 is formulated with premium high viscosity index paraffinic (mineral) base oils. For most conventional slideway applications this is entirely suitable; synthetic options are generally considered when extended drain intervals, extreme temperature ranges, or specific OEM requirements apply. Truegard provides a blog post on choosing between synthetic and mineral oil if you need further guidance for your specific situation.

  • The product data does not specify compatibility with other oils, and mixing lubricants from different formulations can compromise additive performance and anti-foam properties. It is best practice to flush the system and start with fresh Way Lube 68 rather than topping off or blending with a different product.
